66 Amazon from Germany
66 Amazon from Germany
Hi everyone,my name is Thorsten and I´m from Warendorf/Germany.I found and bought my first Volvo 6weeks ago in the internet. It´s original from Sweden and was imported to Berlin in 1990.
First step was playing with photoshop
then I had to repair some things for the TÜV to get the Amazon legal onto the street

Hi Thorsten !
Wow, that gives us all a whole new meaning of "spending money on your project", doesn't it ! :o
You're clearly going custom with this one, have you considered going lower with the black contrast color on the roof,
I mean on the front screen a-pillars, door frame/bow's and complete b-pillar area, so that the black color is in level where
the splitline for the rear window is ? It's your car and your decision, ofcourse...but in my opinion...a low splitline between roof and body color
at the same level, will give it a more smoother look...the paint will "flow" better over the car.
Good luck and keep us posted

Hi Sven
You are right with your idea and I think I will do that in the future but it will be a lot until I reach this point of my project.
Today it was the Roadrage Cruisin Day at a friend´s bike shop and "Haui" ,the pinstriper of Devils Paint ( http://www.devils-paint.com ) was looking for something to stripe, so I gave him my Amazon
I think he did a very good job. Ok he has to stripe it new if the car is painted but for the meantime it´s very nice to drive a primerd/pinstriped Zone
this is my website

Re: 66 Amazon from Germany
If you want to get a historical license plate you have to look where you will go to get the TÜV because every engineer at the TÜV thinks different about, how a car is historical. Some of these guys only like original cars and others think if the tuning or customizing is historical ,too they will give you the license. My Volvo got his historical plate ten years ago,so it is a little bit easier for me to customize it. I only have to show the TÜV and maybe the police that this customoizing is more than 20 years old or better say that there was the chance to do the same things twenty years ago. Like the 5,5x15 Kronprinz wheels with 195/60 15 tires. It is not original on this car but Volvo took this wheels onto other cars in the sixties so this is historical .

Re: 66 Amazon from Germany
long time ago since my last posting.....but nothing went on about the winter.
A few weeks ago I went to the Netherlands to weld my "new" wheels to 5,5x15 for the front and 6x15 for the rear
and then they got powder coated in red
After that I began to build a new front....
and was looking for some headlight rings to get the frenched taillight look...
these rings are from a Trabant 601 but they won´t fit perfect.

Nice work! I really like the rings for the lights. How hard are they to fit?
Keep up the good work, and keep posting pictures!

My Amazon is completed and the first ride is done
The headlightrings won´t fit perfect but it´s good enough for the first time I´ll make them right after the meeting in Bottrop.
The new"seatcovers" are done onto the seats, too. Two blankets with leo style. They even look better than the original damged sets.
and the "real" must have is in the car, too.My fuzzy dice
now I´m ready for the weekend
