Hello Sweden!

Sorry, I'm writing this in english, I hope it's ok.
I just put original heater valve into pieces, have a look:

Inside there is a simple rubber seal which is broken due to its age, it can be seen on the last image. Has anyone found a replacement for it? I have tried here in Finland, no luck. Any information how to find a suitable rubber seal will be appreciated! I can not be the only one searching it...!

Cheers,

Ilkka

If you don´t need the original part you can try to use the valve from Volvo 740 and rebuild it so it will fit on your Amazon. It´s cheeper than the original valve.

Har just plockat isär värmeventilen, se bilderna här:

Inuti den fanns en simpel gummipackning som har åldrats och gått sönder, den syns på sista bilden. Har någon funnit en ersättningspackning som fungerar? Jag har försökt hitta en i Finland, utan framgång. Har någon tips om hur jag kan hitta en passande packning?

Hälsningar,
Ilkka

Ikka:

In Stockholm (Sweden), there's a company called Kuntze. Their speciality is rubber-products, like hoses, seals, bushings etc. Im quite sure that you would find a working seal in their shop.

Make a drawing of the seal with the dimensions and send it to them via FAX / Email or something. Maybe they can get one for you.

Heissan Sverige igen!

Thanks a lot D59471, you are very helpfull!

I heard from a finnish Volvo-freak that there has been one guy in Sweden repairing these valves. This obviously means that he has found a correct seal. Any info about this is appreciated!

I try first to repair the old one rather that modify something else for a replacement. My Amazon -67 is in very good original condition (except bumbers), I want get it museum registered some day in the future:

I will mount a cleaned and painted engine + M41 back as soon as I get this heater valve in conditon first.

Cheers,

Ilkka

After doing some netsurfing I realized that many american cars used the very same heater valve in 50s and 60s. I contacted one place in USA dealing with these, the result is that a brand new seal is coming to me!
